Sneaky Balm Hydrating Skin Tint has 35% pigment, which would technically make it a medium coverage foundation in other circumstances. By adding more pigment than is typical of a "tint" it’s possible to get the beautiful, evened-out-but-skin-still-showing effect of a tinted moisturizer or serum with an incredibly small amount of product applied to the face. So rather than thinking of it as a medium coverage product, think of it as a tint concentrate :).
Here's a video of our founder, formulator, makeup artist, and resident beautiful pink-haired baby Kiki G. giving some more information on coverage. It is time stamped to start at 22:09 minute mark when she covers this topic.
Best Practices for using Sneaky Balm
Remember that it is made to be worn as a tint and apply light layers.
Lock down your skin care routine, and be sure to exfoliate regularly with a chemical exfoliant.
Apply moisturizer beforehand to prime the skin and even out your skin's natural oils.
Set lightly with a translucent powder if you have oily skin and you prefer to keep the shine down throughout the day (if you like a dewy look then feel free to skip!)
Use a stippling motion, rather than a sweeping motion, while applying over areas of the skin that have texture, and a sweeping motion over areas that are smooth.
You can use whichever tools you like to apply. A damp sponge provides the lightest application, while a dry sponge or a brush with dense, soft bristles give a bit more coverage. Sponges (dry or damp) work best on skin with texture. Fingers are great.
Check out this video to see Kiki breakdown the application process and give a demo. It is time stamped for 20:30 when the tutorial section begins.
